Be Kind to the Earth & Your Skin

In honor of Earth Day this month I wanted to address the importance of sourcing skincare products with natural ingredients. In a sea fraught with synthetic and chemical product choices, making the extra effort to source eco-friendly products is a great way to support planet conscious companies and ensure beautiful healthy skin for yourself.

Using natural ingredients in skincare products can have several benefits, including:

  1. They are less likely to cause irritation or allergic reactions compared to synthetic ingredients. The most common ones are parabens, imidazolidinyl urea, Quaternium-15, DMDM hydantoin, phenoxyethanol, methylchloroisothiazolinone, and formaldehyde which have all been linked to skin irritation and allergic reactions.

  2. Natural ingredients often contain antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals that can help nourish and protect the skin. For example, pomegranate extract has proven to protect the skin for UVA and UVB Rays. While Calendula extract is high in flavonoids and carotenoids helping protect your skin from free radicals.

  3. They are often more eco-friendly and sustainable than synthetic ingredients. If you are using cosmetics and skincare products daily that have toxic ingredients in them, what happens when you wash your face or shower?... it goes right down the drain and into our water system. Hawaii has banned the use of oxybenzone and octinoxate because it is a lead factor in the bleaching and destruction of coral reefs.

  4. Many natural ingredients have anti-inflammatory properties that can help soothe and calm the skin. Look for products that have German Chamomile extract which is very effective in reducing inflammation and soothing your skin.

If you are already familiar with the products that I use in my practice, then you know that I love sourcing from companies that put the health of our bodies and our planet first. Comfort Zone is one of those beautiful companies that uses all ingredients and ethically sources those ingredients.

Comfort Zone Philosophy:

“[ Home ] is where we most belong, where we feel at ease and surround ourselves with the people and things we love. But our bodies and souls also inhabit other homes given to us by [ our planet and our skin ]. We wish to protect them and make them healthy, vital and beautiful.” To find out more about their products visit:
